Blue Spark Technologies’ management team reflects the depth and breadth of the company’s commitment to increasing awareness and adoption of green printed battery technology, and to expanding commercial and industrial applications for our growing product line within numerous high-value markets.

We have built a deep bench of seasoned professionals – some of whom came from the Eveready Battery Company – with a collective 250 years of battery design, development, application and production expertise.

Gary Johnson President & CEO
Previous experience includes leading Sawyer Research Products, Inc., a Cleveland-based international technology company, to a market-leading position. Gary has also led new opportunities in executive, director and advisory roles with early stage technology ventures. Gary holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and a MS in Industrial Administration from the Krannert Graduate School of Management at Purdue University.

Gary Tucholski CTO & Vice President of Technology
Gary brings over 40 years of battery technology experience from his successful tenure at Eveready Battery Company (EBC). His early work as a technician helped pioneer fuel cell development, followed by development responsibility in all of the electrochemical systems in EBC’s portfolio, and he served as one of three Corporate Fellows for his final 8 years of service. Gary’s R&D group at Blue Spark includes chemists, QA, production and support professionals with a combined 200+ years of service at Eveready. Gary holds a BSME from Fenn College.

Nancy Rubin Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
Prior to joining Blue Spark, Nancy has served as CFO-in-residence for BioEnterprise and contract CFO at numerous Cleveland firms, where she facilitated mergers and acquisitions and had executive oversight for financial and administrative systems design and implementation, as well as human resource management and recruitment. Earlier she served in corporate executive positions with BestQuote Agency, CBG, Inc., OttoSensors Corporation, and American Specialty Foods. Rubin also founded and owns N.G. Rubin & Associates, a full service contract financial and administrative management service company. Nancy holds an MBA degree in finance from Cleveland State University and a BBA (Summa Cum Laude) degree in marketing from Kent State University.

Matt Ream Vice President of Marketing
Prior to joining Blue Spark Technologies, Matt spent over 19 years in the high-tech engineering industry, 14 specifically in RFID. Most recently, he held senior RFID market and business development positions with Zebra Technologies Corporation, a leading provider of RFID solutions, and led RFID product management for Omron Electronics. Matt holds a BSEET from DeVry University.

Peter Kuzma Vice President of Business Development
Prior to joining Thin Battery Technologies, Peter served as Vice President of Business Development for RCD Technologies, a Pennsylvania-based RFID company. His experience includes a strong electronics background coupled with ten years of business development experience within the RFID industry at Avery Dennison and X-ident. Peter holds a BSEE degree from Drexel University, an MBA from Scranton University, and second Master’s in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania.

Robert J. Thompson Vice President of Operations
Previous experience includes Sales and Market Development at PPG, Market Development at Bayer (10 yrs), Business Manager / VP at Acheson Colloids Company (19 yrs), Operations Manager at Flint Precisia (2 yrs). Bob brings to Blue Spark Technologies a wealth of valuable experience in market development, operation, technology, and strategic business management.

Ed “Russ” Russell Vice President of Quality
Prior to joining Blue Spark, Russ spent over 35 years at Eveready Battery Company in R&D and quality roles. His focus on quality systems and supporting fabricators has led to his devotion to the science of quality and, as Certified Quality Auditor and Manager in several quality associations, he has a track record of increasing productivity and increasing yields. Russ holds a BS in Physics from Ohio State and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University.
